General

The confidence of all persons who participate in surveys is crucial to all the activities of the iVOX online research bureau. This privacy statement is therefore meant to give a clear explanation about the way we handle data which can be labeled as confidential or privacy-sensitive.  iVOX deliberately conforms itself to the behaviour code of Esomar, the international association of market research bureaus.  Furthermore, we subscribe to the guidelines on the field of internet market research which were set up by this association.  The rules below were set up by us.  By respecting these rules, we can guarantee you that all data are handled by us with great care.

Data collection

iVOX collects data about a wide range of topics.  This is done in various ways, for instance through online surveys.  iVOX is the exclusive owner of the information it gathers.  This information will not be made public, sold, or shared with others, other than described in this privacy statement, without your explicit permission.  iVOX ignores every third party request to publicise the identity of respondents or any other personal information, unless it is forced by law to do so.
We respect your privacy and will NEVER use your personal data for other goals than research.  Your personal data will never be shown to third party members without your explicit permission.  Your personal answers on survey questions will NEVER be reported to individuals and will be handled entirely anonymously.
Participation in a survey is always on a voluntary basis.  In general, iVOX raffles prizes among the respondents of a survey.  Contacting information, such as your e-Mail address, is hereby used when announcing the prize winners.
When it comes to security, iVOX handles your personal data with great care.  Survey data are stored on internal servers behind a firewall or on a secured web environment.  Technical safety measures make sure that any confidential information is exclusively accessible to iVOX staff members whose task is to process survey data.  All iVOX staff members have signed a pledge of confidentiality in their employment contract.  This way, confidential data are always protected.  In certain cases, research data are temporarily stored on servers owned by suppliers of iVOX.  When this happens, these suppliers are forced to respect our privacy policy by making them sign a special contract.

External data collection

iVOX does not only gather information through its own website.  It also works by order of third party members or together with partners.  At this, data can be gathered through online questionnaires which are activated by means of ‘click stream intercept’ (pop-up screen), banners, buttons, e-Mail or links on third party websites.  When gathering information from external sources, iVOX protects the privacy of its respondents as well.  Research data, including results, are only shown to clients or partners anonymously and/or in an authorised form.  If clients wish to have personal contact with respondents, in which case anonymity cannot be guaranteed by iVOX anymore, then you will be notified about this in advance.
When pop-up questionnaires are used for external data collection, cookies are used to make sure that users get a certain questionnaire only once.  Other personal information will NEVER be stored in these cookies.

iVOX Online Panel System

In most online surveys, we ask respondents for their permission to address them for future surveys as well.  If they agree, these respondents’ personal profiles are stored in the iVOX Online Panel System.
